Sneak Peek of Super Bowl 2013 Commercials

super bowl 1st lineIt’s here.  The BIG DAY.  Super Bowl XLVII…..that is 47 in case you were wondering. The game will be between AFC champions, the Baltimore Ravens, and the NFC champs, the San Francisco 49ers.  The game will be the first match up of two brothers filling the opposing roles of head coach, with John Harbaugh at the helm of the Raven’s club, his brother Jim across the field in 49ers territory.

If you watch the game on Sunday, February 3rd, know that you are one of about 110 MILLION others, worldwide.

Ok, enough about the game already, let’s get to the important stuff.  The commercials.

imagesCANZOQ7IChrysler has made a huge impact in the last couple of years with their two minute Eminem “Born of Fire” spot and last years “Halftime in America” featuring none other than Clint Eastwood.  But what do they have up their sleeve this year?  Well, you just might have to wait until game day to find out.

Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen have already shared a significant portion of their ads with the world, thanks to the internet.  Not so with the Chrysler Corp.  They are keeping mum on their big reveal.  No teaser, no plot line, no discussion of any kind.  Silence is golden.

Thirty or so advertisers will air commercials in Super Bowl airtime that will cost them roughly $3.8 million for a 30-second slot.  WOW.  That is a far cry from the $42,000 charged for spots during the first Super Bowl in 1967.  This is by far the most expensive media money can buy.  So why do they do it?

What better way to tap into 110 million consumers than by way of social media?  The social media buzz that is created before, during and after the game is priceless.  In a nutshell….it reaches the masses.  Take a look at some of the commercials that you will see during this year’s Super Bowl:

So, what do you think the boys at Chrysler have concocted for this year’s big event?  I guess you will just have to wait and see!
