At Peterson Stampede Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM, we know you work hard all week and look forward to a relaxing weekend, but we also know that if you’re a parent of small children, there’s really no such thing as relaxing. This weekend, we have one quick tip that will help you relax until it’s time to drop the kids off at school on Monday morning.
It’s Seat Check Saturday, and our Chrysler dealer knows that Caldwell drivers will rest easy once they take the opportunity to confirm that their children’s car seats are safe, secure and ready to go. Seat Check Saturday is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) National Child Passenger Safety Week, and our dealership feels that this cause is far too important to go unobserved.
According to NHTSA statistics, car crashes are the leading cause of death for children between one and 13 years old. The organization’s 2011 data indicates that more than one-third of children who were killed in car accidents that year were not in car seats or wearing seatbelts. This is tragic data when you consider the effectiveness of car seats in preventing fatalities due to an accident:
- In cars, car seats reduce the risk of death for infants by 71 percent and for toddlers by 54 percent
- In vans and pickups, car seats reduce the risk of death for infants by 58 percent and for toddlers by 59 percent
Knowing the importance of car seats, our dealership believes that Seat Check Saturday is a great opportunity to be proactive in ensuring your family’s safety. We’re proud to see the Chrysler Group share educational materials with its employees and Facebook fans in honor of National Child Passenger Safety Week, and we’re eager to see our customers take action as well. We encourage you to visit a child car seat inspection station today and buckle into a safe future for your children!
