Introducing the newest additions to the Dodge Blacktop lineup for 2013: Avenger, Charger R/T and Challenger R/T.
Back in Black takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to this trio. Everything is black — paint, wheels, crosshair-style grille, spoilers and yes, even the tires. The bezels over the headlights aren’t black, but they are darkened.
“The Blacktop package on the Dodge Charger has proven to be a resounding success by combining a customized one-of-a-kind appearance with great value — a trademark of the Dodge Brand,” said Reid Bigland, the Dodge brand’s CEO.
The Avenger takes on a whole new persona with the addition of the Blacktop package. The Avenger comes with Blacktop features inside, such as a six-speed automatic transmission with an “Auto Stick” feature. For an added dose of luxury, Avenger Blacktop offers a premium leather interior with heated front seats, making the Avenger the most affordable mid-size car with leather in the United States.
Challenger Blacktop editions come swathed in Pitch Black, Granite Crystal, or Billet Silver Metallic exterior finishes highlighted by a matte graphite body stripe with red accents running from front to back. The 20-inch aluminum wheels, the grille surround, and the fuel door all get the gloss-black treatment. Unlike the Avenger, Blacktop Challengers come equipped with the Super Track Pak, which includes high-performance-steering gear, brake linings, and monotube-shock absorbers.
Dodge introduced the very first Blacktop model in 2012 based on the Charger V6. The 2013 Charger offers up a 370 hp Hemi V8……America’s most affordable V8 sedan. The Dodge Charger R/T gets all the black trim of the other models and is offered in black, white, red and gray. In addition to the trim, the Charger Blacktop gets steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a sport mode, 3.06 rear axle and a Beats Audio system.
